On 4 June 2026, Mr. Ekkamon Phaetyanan, President of the Foundation for Children and People with Disabilities, in his capacity as President of the Thailand Association of the Blind, attended the 1st Meeting of the National Committee for the Promotion and Development of the Quality of Life of Persons with Disabilities (2026) at Meeting Room 301, Government House.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Yotchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairperson of the National Committee for the Promotion and Development of the Quality of Life of Persons with Disabilities.
Key Agenda Items and Resolutions
✅ Increase in the Disability AllowanceThe monthly disability allowance will be increased from 800 baht to 1,000 baht for all eligible persons with disabilities, ensuring equal benefits for everyone.
✅ Higher Career Development Loan CeilingThe maximum loan amount for career development will be increased from 120,000 baht to 300,000 baht for borrowers with a good repayment record.
✅ Family Members Eligible as Paid CaregiversFamily members will be eligible to serve as personal assistants for persons with disabilities, receiving compensation of 60 baht per hour, up to 10,800 baht per month.
✅ Advancing Universal Design (UD)The government will continue promoting Universal Design (UD) to improve accessibility in public facilities and transportation systems, creating a more inclusive environment for everyone.
✅ Improved Disability Identification ServicesElectronic disability identification cards (e-Cards) will be introduced, while individuals with permanent disabilities will be eligible for lifetime disability cards, eliminating the need for renewals.
✅ Provision of Assistive DevicesA budget of 141 million baht has been approved through the Disability Empowerment Fund to provide approximately 17,000 assistive devices for persons with disabilities.
